November 13, 2023 -- The City of Highland Park hosted its annual Veterans Day Ceremony on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11 AM at the Highland Park Public Library (494 Laurel Avenue.) Representatives from the American Legion Post #145, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4737, and Jewish War Veterans Post #29 joined Mayor Nancy Rotering, Commander Terry N. Traweek of Naval Station Great Lakes, the City's Poet Laureate Laura Joyce-Hubbard (USAF, Major, Ret.), and William Fireside of Honor Flight Chicago in honoring US Navy veteran Lawrence J. Sassarossi as a Hero Among Us. The Highland Park High School Brass Quintet performed patriotic music.
