The temporary memorial opened on November 11, 2022 to provide a place for remembrance and reflection. It is located in the Rose Garden near City Hall and will remain there throughout the planning and construction of the permanent place of remembrance.
The City appreciates the partnership with the Park District of Highland Park and the generosity of Guy Scopelliti Landscaping for their assistance in creating this space.
The City of Highland Park is undertaking a trauma-informed planning process to create a permanent place of remembrance that will pay tribute to the memory of the seven victims of the Highland Park shooting, create a space(s) for reflection, remembrance and solace, and honor the community's resiliency.
