Highland Park Police Resolve Incident on 1300 Block of St. Johns Ave.

September 16, 2022 (11:10 PM) - The City of Highland Park Police Department has resolved the incident on the 1300 block of St. Johns Avenue. The individual who had previously threatened self-harm voluntarily left the residence and the situation has been safely resolved. There is no threat to public safety as a result of this incident. The safety perimeter has been lifted, and access to the 1300 block of St. Johns Ave. has been restored. 
 
The City greatly appreciates the patience of residents within the closure, which contributed to the safe resolution of this incident.

Highland Park Police Responding to
Ongoing Incident on the 1300 Block of St. Johns Avenue

 September 16, 2022 (9:25 PM) – City of Highland Park police officers are continuing to respond to the ongoing incident on the 1300 block of St. Johns Ave. An individual inside his residence has threatened harm to himself. The City has reason to believe that there are firearms on the premises. The incident is contained to a single residence, and the scene is secured. There is no community-wide risk at this time. 

St. Johns Ave. is closed between Lincoln Ave. and Wade St. to create a safety perimeter that will allow law enforcement to do its utmost to resolve this incident. The Police Department is in regular communication with residents of the street closure. Residents whose homes are located within the safety perimeter may contact public safety non-emergency at 847.432.7730. The City appreciates the community’s patience and understanding as our public safety professionals continue to manage this ongoing incident.

The City will continue to provide regular updates via all communications modalities, including when the situation is resolved and the safety perimeter around the 1300 block of St. Johns Ave. is lifted. Update, 8:14 PM: Police remain on scene responding to an incident isolated to one residential property on the 1300 block of St. Johns.  St. Johns from Lincoln Ave. to Wade St. remains closed to maintain a safety perimeter.

Update, 4:44 PM:Police continue to be on-site at a home located on the 1300 block of St. Johns Avenue. The incident is confined to a residence. There is no community-wide threat, and the scene is secure. To facilitate law enforcement’s response, please continue to avoid the area while police work to resolve this incident.
