Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month

The City of Highland Park is proud to partner with the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center and the Office of the Lake County State's Attorney as part of the Blue Kids Campaign to raise awareness about child abuse prevention. The Police Department produced the video below to share how community members can protect and advocate for kids during Child Abuse Prevention Month.

April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the Blue Kids Lake County initiative is designed to help parents and caregivers protect children from abuse. Blue Kids Lake County, a program of the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center, aims to create awareness around child abuse in Lake County, engage youth by promoting peer-to-peer support, and encourage education and participation from individuals and partner organizations to ensure that all children enjoy a safe childhood.

The Blue Kids child-focused information and promotional materials can help start these important conversations with children about physical and online abuse.

The Lake County Children's Advocacy Center has prepared a number of resources for individuals and organizations to share, including a wealth of resources for parents. Materials for parents include documents about recognizing the forms of abuse, teaching body safetypreventing child abuse and more. Resources are also available for businesses and organizations to help spread the word by displaying posters or signage.
