The City has been notified that ComEd will need to temporarily close portions of Deerfield Road on Thursday, March 25, and Friday, March 26, to complete necessary infrastructure upgrades. The closures will allow ComEd crews to replace utility poles, which will increase service reliability. No outages are anticipated.
Work will be completed in two phases:
- Deerfield Rd. & Central Ave. (Afternoon of March 25; Morning of March 26)
- Deerfield Rd. between McGovern St. & Hickory St. (March 26)
Road closures will be as follows:
Thursday, March 25: Deerfield Rd. at Central Ave.
ComEd will close eastbound Deerfield Rd. at Central Ave. for approximately one hour between 1:00 - 3:00 PM. Westbound Deerfield Rd. will remain open to traffic.
Friday, March 26, Deerfield Rd. at Central Ave.
Com Ed will close eastbound Deerfield Rd. at Central Ave. beginning at 8:00 AM to complete work at the intersection. Westbound Deerfield Rd. will remain open to traffic.
Friday, March 26, Deerfield Rd. Between Hickory & McGovern
Once work at Deerfield & Central is complete, ComEd will move their work site to Deerfield Rd. between Hickory St. and McGovern St. This will require a full closure of Deerfield Rd. ComEd will position flaggers at both ends of the closure to ensure that local access to homes remains available at all times. Work is anticipated to be completed by 2:00 PM.
Motorists are urged to drive with caution and follow all detour signage, cones, and directions from flaggers. Please see the map below to view the affected areas.
