August 6, 2020 -- Medical Equipment Loan Closet Reopens

The City of Highland Park Medical Equipment Loan Closet has now reopened on a limited basis. The Loan Closet is available to Highland Park residents and Senior Center members. Equipment available includes canes, crutches, raised toilet seats, portable commodes, shower seats/benches, walkers, and wheelchairs. Items are available on loan at no charge, for an unlimited length of time. New health and safety protocols for contact-free pick-up and returns have been implemented for the safety of clients and staff. Please note that the Senior Center cannot provide supervision, training, or adjustment of equipment.

While the Senior Center remains closed due to COVID-19, items may be borrowed and returned by appointment only, on Wednesdays from 10 AM – 2 PM. Before requesting an appointment, please review the new Loan Closet Contact-Free Safety Procedures. Appointments should be requested via email to Jennifer Aiello at jaiello@cityhpil.com.

Emails should indicate:
  • Name, phone, and email address
  • Whether the appointment is to borrow or return equipment
  • List of items you would like to borrow or return
  • Date (Wednesdays only) and times you are available between 10 AM and 2 PM only
Individuals will receive a response with their appointment date, time, and availability of items, as well as a copy of a universal waiver. This waiver must be printed, completed, signed, and returned when picking up the equipment.

Returned items will be sanitized and placed in holding for one week, and will undergo a second sanitization before being returned to the Loan Closet for lending.
