Message from the Mayor: Gratitude and Giving

Gratitude and Giving: A Message from Mayor Nancy R. Rotering.

December 30, 2019 -- As this year ends and another begins, we often talk about gratitude and what we hope to achieve in the New Year. Thank you for your time, input, and involvement throughout this year as we worked together on issues that matter to all of us.

We are fortunate to live in a caring and inclusive town, focusing on creating the community we desire now and for future generations. Regardless of success or challenge, we have a culture where neighbors work together, care deeply about each other, and support those in need. While there is always more to do, I am proud of our collective and individual efforts.

In the spirit of this season of giving, please consider putting these core principles into action. Let’s continue to care for our neighbors in need. Consider donating non-perishable food to the Moraine Township Food Pantry at 800 Central Avenue. The Highland Park Fire Department seeks donations of new or gently used coats for their annual Coats for Kids Collection Drive through February 1, 2020. A collection box is located in the lobby of Fire Station 33 at 1130 Central Avenue. There are also other local organizations in need of time and donation. The Highland Park Community Foundation may be able to help you find an organization that speaks to you. For more information email Terri@HPCFIL.com. And the Highland Park Volunteer Pool can always use more help. Their website provides immediate opportunities for volunteering within our community: www.volunteerpoolhp.org.

As we know: “Many hands together make light work.” If everyone pitches in, we can make a difference. Together, we can give our neighbors peace of mind and so much more. Join me.

Happy Holidays!
