Bicentennial Time Capsule Preview Ceremony

November 5, 2019 -- As part of HP150, the City’s sesquicentennial (150th Anniversary) celebration, Mayor Nancy Rotering will reveal the contents for the City’s 2069 Bicentennial Celebration Time Capsule on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at 7:30 PM in the Council Chambers of Highland Park City Hall, 1707 St. Johns Avenue. Contents were selected based on public feedback from individuals, groups, and organizations. A preview of the HP150 Sponsor Plaque with names of the top HP150 sponsors will also be on display at the ceremony.

“A year of celebrating our rich history, our passionate present, and our exciting future is coming to a close. One of the final tasks of the HP150 Committee was to put together a time capsule that represents who we are as a community today,” stated Mayor Nancy Rotering. “It is my hope that when this capsule is opened, residents will see that we were passionate about planning for a future of strength, curiosity, compassion, and leadership. We are grateful for the contributions of our community to help preserve our history for the next 50 years.”

The event is open to the public, however, seating is limited. Contents for the time capsule will be on display outside of the Council Chambers at City Hall throughout the evening and will be transferred to the First Bank of Highland Park in December where they will be sealed in a safety deposit box until 2069.
