Administrative Offices Closed November 12, 2018, in observance of Veterans Day

Administrative offices will be closed on Monday, November 12, 2018, in observance of Veterans Day. Garbage and recycling pick-up will not be affected, and the Senior Center will remain open. If you need assistance, please contact the Highland Park Police Department at 847.432.7730.

The City of Highland Park will hold its Veterans Day Observance Ceremony on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 11 AM at the Highland Park Public Library, 494 Laurel Avenue.  Representatives from the American Legion Post #145, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4737 and Jewish War Veterans #29 will be present. Mr. Herb Schneiderman will be recognized as a Hero Among Us. Mayor Nancy Rotering and other special guests will speak. The Highland Park High School Brass Quintet will perform patriotic music. All are welcome.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. In remembrance of this occasion, there will be a display of craft made poppies. Children and families are invited to stop by the Youth Services Department at the Highland Park Public Library between November 1 through November 11 to make a craft poppy for inclusion in this community art project.

We extend our sincerest gratitude to our country's veterans for their service and sacrifice. We recognize how necessary veterans are to protecting all of the freedoms we enjoy, and we are forever grateful for their service.
