Keeping our Community Safe: School Safety Preparedness

Public Safety is a core priority for The City of Highland Park. As such, the City of Highland Park Police Department works every day to strengthen community relations, enforce laws, and provide on-going education to residents. The City of Highland Park Police Department also focuses on school safety. The City continues to partner with both North Shore School District 112 and Township High School District 113 to provide the highest levels of school safety. A Police Resource Officer is stationed at Highland Park High School and at District 112 schools. The resource officers proactively work with students and staff to provide education on a variety of safety issues. The City of Highland Park Police will continue to work diligently to ensure that our community is safe.

The police and school districts work closely together to help prevent school violence by:

• Providing regular police presence in and around all Highland Park schools

• Monitoring social media activity

• Collaborating with social service resources on violence and bullying prevention

• Working alongside parents to watch for unusual behavior

The Highland Park Police Department encourages anyone with information regarding school violence, suspicious activity, or bullying issues to immediately contact the Highland Park Police Department at 847.432.7730 or school administrators.
