Sister Governments Work Together to Keep Community Safe

Public safety is one of the City’s core priorities. As such, the City of Highland Park Police Department routinely collaborates with its sister governments including the Park District of Highland Park, North Shore School District 112, Township High School 113 and the Highland Park Public Library to review public safety policies and procedures.

The City of Highland Park Police Department focuses on a variety of public safety measures including traffic management, rapid deployment training, security checks, active shooter training, interactive tabletop exercises and safety presentations. These community partnerships and collaboration efforts have resulted in opportunities for problem-solving and increased safety and security.

“It is important for our officers to engage with the community to build trust through formal and informal relationships,” said Police Chief Lou Jogmen. “These partnerships allow the City to proactively develop solutions to public safety scenarios which we hope never occur in our community. We also use these collaborations as a chance to empower the community to take steps to increase safety.”
