Business Development Strategic Plan Promotes Economic Growth

In an effort to adapt to the changing needs of the business community, the City of Highland Park regularly reviews its strategies and tactics. As part of this effort, on a bi-annual basis the City of Highland Park Business Development Strategic Plan (the Plan) is updated. It is but one tool that is intended to provide multi-year guidance and direction for business development efforts and resource allocation. The 2018/2019 Plan was presented to the City Council at the February 12, 2018 Committee of the Whole meeting and may be found on the City website at www.cityhpil.com/BusinessStrategicPlan.

The Plan articulates a set of measurable strategies and actions to facilitate economic growth and identify opportunities to attract and retain business in the community, as well as increase private sector investment. It identifies efforts that include continued collaboration with property owners, businesses, retailers, brokers, elected officials, staff and other stakeholders. The Plan is the result of extensive input from the City Council, the Business and Economic Development Commission, City staff, and key stakeholders in the business community.

“The City is, dedicated to working with area stakeholders and decision makers to coordinate and implement creative strategies that will contribute to the economic health of Highland Park today and in the future,” said Business Development Manager, Carolyn Hersch. “The Plan provides a roadmap to help us capitalize on our strengths and encourages a diverse, stable business base that helps enhance the quality of life in Highland Park.
