Obtaining Police and Traffic Accident Reports
Police and Traffic Accident Reports can be obtained by submitting a Freedom of Information Request. The signed form can be presented in person at the Police Department Records window, faxed to 847.432.7706 or e-mailed to email@example.com as a PDF file.
Under the Freedom of Information Act, the department has 5 business days to respond to your request. There is no fee for the first 50 pages of printed information. Certain information may be redacted from the report to ensure compliance with the Freedom of Information Act.

In an effort to provide citizens and insurance companies with the ability to obtain accurate and affordable crash reports as quickly as possible, our crash reports are now available for purchase online.
Traffic Accident Reports can usually be obtained within 24 hours . If you wish to obtain a copy of your accident report online, please visit PoliceReports.LexisNexis.com. LexisNexis charges a nominal convenience fee for this service which is added to the cost of the report. Involved parties that do not wish to pay the convenience fee can still come to the police station and pay only the cost of the report.

Expungement of Adult Arrest Records
For adult arrest records, you will need to obtain a court order for expungement through the court in which you were adjudicated. Typically that would be the 19th Judicial Circuit Court of Lake County in Waukegan.
