Parking Options
The City of Highland Park offers many quality locations to shop and dine in the Central Business District and the Ravinia area. The City welcomes patrons of these businesses with a variety of parking options, including on-street parking, off-street surface lots and parking garages.
The City also provides locations with spaces set aside for employees who work in these business districts, and requires employees to utilize E-permit lots to make as much storefront parking as possible available to patrons. Handicapped parking is available in all public lots.

Parking Permits
A printed map of Highland Park public parking is available at City Hall. Please contact Jennifer Dotson at 847.926.1006 for more information. Parking permits are available for purchase in person from the Finance Department at City Hall, located at 1707 St. Johns Avenue.

Snow Ordinance Parking Ban
There is no street parking in the City 2 AM to 6 AM from December 1 through March 31. If special circumstances necessitate parking in a "No Parking" zone, you may call the Police Department dispatcher at 847.432.7730 to request permission.
Parking Holidays
The following six holidays are designated as "Parking Holidays":
- New Year's Day
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Parking Tickets
The Police Department will review a parking citation if the following circumstances apply:
- There was a corroborated medical emergency or issue.
- There was a corroborated mechanical issue that led to the parking citation being issued (i.e. disabled vehicle, windshield replacement, defective meter, etc).
- The parking citation was issued in error by the officer.
All other parking citation appeals will be referred to court upon request, for proper adjudication.
Parking citation appeals are referred to an Administrative Hearing date, which is held at the Highland Park City Hall - 1707 St. Johns Avenue, Highland Park or the Lake County Municipal Traffic Court - 301 South Greenleaf, Park City. Citizens found guilty of parking violations after an Administrative Hearing or Traffic Court may be assessed additional court fees.
Requests for an Administrative Hearing or Traffic Court date must be submitted in writing to: City of Highland Park Police Department / Traffic Section - 1677 Old Deerfield Road, Highland Park, Illinois, 60035. Once a Hearing or Court date has been assigned, payment can no longer be accepted until the matter is adjudicated. Subsequently, the matter must be settled by the Administrative Hearing or Court system. To request a continuance, please contact Lake County Municipal Traffic Court at 847.377.3500.
