Remembering Officer Robert C. Reimann Jr.

The City of Highland Park honors the memory of Officer Robert C. Reimann Jr., who was killed in the line of duty on January 6, 1984.

Officer Reimann was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer after stopping a vehicle on Highway 41, between Old Elm Road and Westleigh Road, in Lake Forest. He was investigating a Highland Park burglary and stopped a car believed to be involved. As he and other assisting Lake Forest and Highland Park officers questioned the occupants on the side of the roadway, a tractor-trailer entered the area and collided with the patrol cars and the suspect vehicle.

Officer Reimann had served with the Highland Park Police Department for nine years. He was survived by his wife, father, and sister. The City gratefully remembers his service to our community each year on the anniversary of his passing.

Today, all Highland Park officers honor the memory of Officer Reimann as the shield patch is part of the Police Department's uniform.
