Property Taxes
The City’s total 2017 tax levy for collection in 2018 is $12.7 million. The levy rate has fallen from 1.045 for the 1993 levy to .523 for the current year – a decrease in the tax rate of nearly 50%. The City of Highland Park has made a significant effort to minimize growth in property taxes.   


Properties in North Shore School District 112  
Many residents do not realize that the City receives less than 7% of the total property taxes assessed on Highland Park property owners. The majority of the property taxes (66%) are remitted to the elementary and high school districts. A breakdown of the 2017 property tax levy, collected during calendar year 2018, follows:
