Recycling Extravaganza Event Held on January 4, 2014

Shoes and textiles added to recyclable materials this year

After the holidays wrap up, residents are reminded and encouraged to recycle old electronic equipment, clean polystyrene products (#6), compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs, batteries, shoes, clothing and other textiles, and holiday lights. The City of Highland Park has partnered with the Solid Waste Agency of Lake County (SWALCO) and invites all Lake County residents to bring these recyclable items to the Highland Park Recycling Center, 1180 Half Day Road, on Saturday, January 4 between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. The drop-off program is also available every Tuesday and Friday between 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.

The Illinois Electronics Products Recycling and Reuse Act prohibits the items below from being discarded with waste and placed at the curb. The City organizes this Recycling Extravaganza to offer residents an opportunity to properly dispose of the items for recycling.
