During the summer of 2010, the storm sewer on the east side of Pleasant Avenue from Washington Place, through the dead end to the north to Roger Williams Avenue is scheduled to be replaced. The project will consist of replacing the existing 8" sewer with new reinforced concrete pipe ranging from 12" to 18". The east side of the street where the storm sewer is being replaced will receive new curb and gutter. In addition, the driveway aprons that are affected by the installation of the sewer will be replaced. The west side of Pleasant Avenue will receive new curb and gutter and the entire street will be resurfaced under the 2011 street program. Orchard Lane Water Main Replacement
The water main on Orchard Lane from St. Johns Ave to Waukegan Ave will be upgraded from the existing 4-in main to a new 8-inch water main. This will improve the flow and pressure for residential water consumption, fire suppression systems and hydrant use by the Fire Department. Work will also include the installation of a storm sewer main, reconstruction of this section of Orchard, drainage improvements, and resurfacing on Waukegan Ave from Orchard Lane to Moraine Ave. Installation of a pedestrian/bicycle connection from the Waukegan and Orchard intersection to the Robert McClory Bike Path is also part of the project. Orchard Lane residential traffic will have access during the course of the project; however, a detour route utilizing Moraine and St Johns Avenues will be in effect for through traffic. The project is scheduled to begin in early September with an anticipated completion date of November 19, 2010. Ravine 10 South Branch Utility Line Replacement
The City of Highland Park awarded a construction contract for the utility lines replacement in the south branch of Ravine 10. The work in the ravine consists of the installation of a new 8" sanitary sewer main starting just south of Woodbridge Lane Bridge and continuing for approximately 725 feet. The street-level work consists of the installation of a new 8" water main on Woodbridge Lane as well as new asphalt resurfacing on Woodbridge and parts of Egandale Avenue. The construction may cause delays and whenever possible flagmen will be on the road to guide traffic. The work is expected to begin the week os August 9 and be substantially completed in November. Bloom Street-Temple Avenue Alley Rehabilitation
The alley between Bloom Street and Temple Avenue will be improved with work expected to begin in late summer and run through November. The majority of the work will consist of installation of PVC underdrains and installation of both concrete and permeable concrete surfaces. Lake Cook Road Resurfacing
From the Skokie River to Green Bay Road, crews will be grinding and resurfacing the asphalt and concrete roadway of Lake Cook Road. Pavement and raised reflective markings will return to existing locations when resurfacing is complete. Curbs will be repaired or replaced where necessary.
