New Police Communication Initiative
The Highland Park Police Department is proud to announce a new
no cost communication tool for Highland Park that is designed to
increase community awareness. The program called (Police
Email Notification System) utilizes the power of the Internet to
establish a line of communication between the police department
and the people we serve so that vital information can be promptly
disseminated between the two.
Community policing philosophies mandate a proactive partnership
with police and the citizens that they serve. Successful programs
tap into community knowledge and assistance to help fight crime.
There are countless times that the police department could benefit
from an informed public and visa versa. The PENS program instantly
links the community and the police by sending important notifications
to participants such as: Crime Pattern Alerts, Traffic Alerts,
Missing Persons, Wanted Persons, Wanted Vehicles and much more.
To accomplish this task, the Highland Park Police Department has
teamed up with Silent Partner Alert of Manning Systems Engineering,
an on-line public safety broadcasting network.
Here's how it works: When an incident of importance occurs, a
message from the police department is instantly sent to any registered
persons via their computer, text pagers, text cell phones or PDA
(personal digital assistant) email devices. In turn, the community
benefits from being informed and the police benefit from information
that is returned from the community.
The more people that participate (register to receive text messages
from the police department), the better the program will work.
Everyone who lives in, works in or frequents Highland Park is highly
encouraged to join. To join, simply log into www.silentpartneralert.com and
select "Click here to register for your free alerts".
Then provide the information requested and submit it. This is a
secure website and by contract, Silent Partner Alert will not disseminate
your email information to any other entity. If you experience any
difficulty in registering, please contact Community Service Officer
Reyes Montemayor or Officer Phil DeLaurentis at (847) 432-7730. |
