IDENTIFICATION BUREAU Updated June 16, 2006
 

The ID Bureau is staffed by one full time Police Officer. The ID Officer performs a wide variety of duties that support the Investigative Bureau, Patrol Division and the Administration. It is a technical position, with emphasis on fingerprints identification, crime scene processing, photography, evidence packaging, storage and retrieval, while providing excellent customer service to other agencies, the public and city employees.

The Highland Park Police Department Identification Bureau has been staffed since 1988 and is currently run by 9-year veteran Rich Williamson. Officer Williamson entered the U.S. Marine Corps in 1987 and graduated with honors from Military Police School, Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas. At that time he was meritoriously promoted to Lance Corporal. From San Antonio to Camp Pendelton in California, Officer Williamson was promoted to Sergeant in 1990 and later became stationed at MCACU, Great Lakes IL. He took part of a specialized unit which traveled throughout the United States and Overseas apprehending and transporting military deserters and prisoners. Following an Honorable Discharge from the USMC in 1993, Officer Williamson joined the Highland Park Police Department in 1994. I.D. Officer Rich Williamson currently holds numerous certificates and credentials ranging from Advanced Evidence Technician, Emergency Medical Technician, Bicycle Officer and Motorcycle Officer. He has been recognized as a Fingerprint Specialist as well as receiving awards and recognitions for his exceptional crime scene work.

Fingerprint Request
The Highland Park Police Department is open 24 hours for Non-Criminal Fingerprint request. Make sure you bring the Fingerprint card of the requesting agency. NOTE- this department cannot process Immigration and Naturalization cards at this time. The fingerprint process takes only five minutes and there is a $10 dollar charge for non-residences. For special Fingerprint request contact ID Officer Williamson.

Property and Evidence
While ID Officer Cipolla maintains the property room he will not release property to anyone but the case officer. Contact your case Officer at 847-432-7730 to make arrangements to pick up your property.
