Highland Park's Administrative Hearing System

According to Chapter 38 of the City Code of Highland Park the City has established an Administrative Hearing System to enforce and adjudicate violations of City Ordinances and Code provisions.  An administrative hearing is similar to a court proceeding although it is far less formal and different rules apply.

If you received a ticket, have requested a hearing or received a Notice to Appear please arrive 15 minutes prior to your scheduled appearance.  Hearings are held on the 2nd floor of City Hall located at 1707 St. Johns Avenue.  You may park in the parking lot directly across from City Hall on Hazel.  Please be prepared to pay any fines that may be imposed by the Hearing Officer that same day.  If you are unable to attend the hearing or would like to request a continuance, please contact Ashley Knaus at (847) 926-1030 or  at least five (5) days prior to your scheduled hearing date. 


Beginning August 12, 2014 the City is no longer assessing interest on late or unpaid fines ordered through the Administrative Hearing System.  After 90 days all unpaid fines will be referred to Credit Management Collections.  If you receive a Collections Notice, you must contact the Collection Agency.  Please note, after 90 days you will be responsible for the total fines and court costs ordered by the Hearing Officer in addition to a percentage based collection fee by the Collection Agency.
