City of Highland Park February 28, 2017 Consolidated Local Primary Election Information

Petition packets for the Tuesday, February 28, 2017 Consolidated Local Primary Election for the office of Councilman will be available for pick up in the City Manager's Office beginning Monday, August 29, 2016 at 8:00 AM. The circulation period begins Tuesday, August 30, 2016 and runs through Monday, November 28, 2016. Nomination papers are filed Monday, November 21, 2016 through Monday, November 28, 2016 with the City Clerk's Office during regular City Hall business hours which are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday.  Filing information has been provided by the Lake County Clerk's Office who serves as the primary election authority in Lake County. City staff may not provide legal advice regarding petitions or the elections process. According to the filing information provided by Lake County, a minimum of 23 signatures is required for the office of Councilman however interested individuals should confirm the number of signatures needed and any additional nomination or election questions or issues with their own legal advisers or the Illinois State Board of Elections. Once petition papers are officially filed, they cannot be changed or amended.

Although the Illinois Legislature has established the county as the primary election authority, the City Clerk continues to serve as the local election official and is responsible for voter registration.

  • Consolidated Local Primary - Tuesday, February 28, 2017
    • Filing Period - November 21-28, 2016

  • Consolidated Local Election - Tuesday, April 4, 2017
    • Filing Period - December 12-19, 2016

Regular Voting Date

On Election Day, all polling places will open at 6:00 AM and will close at 7:00 PM Information regarding where to vote can be found on your voter identification card or by visiting the Lake County Clerk's Office Voter Power website. Individual polling locations are determined by the precinct number that is listed on the Certificate of Voter Registration card.
