The Communications Division strives to inform the public on municipal affairs and promote participation in City programs and events. Professional staff is responsible for the coordination and production of City publications, such as the Highlander
(the City's monthly residential newsletter), and the Messenger
(the City's monthly employee newsletter) and other informational brochures and publications. The Communications Division is also responsible for maintaining the City website.
The Communications Division is also responsible for coordinating media relations and video production, including the departmental features and live broadcasts of City Council meetings. The division provides support in matters such as cable franchise renewal, franchise enforcement and public access programming.
