Semeuphoria Spin was created by Fred Nagelbach using galvanized steel and wood. The piece was installed in 2002 on the southwest corner of Bloom Street and Waukegan Avenue by the Green Bay trail.
Nagelbach derived the concept for the piece from the tradition of gateways and arches historically used as entryways and to commemorate victories. The tower and wind vane are taken from traditional railroad signals and are reminiscent of the Chicago & North Western and North Shore Rail Lines.
Nagelbach received his MFA from Valparaiso in 1967. He teaches sculpture at the Art Institute of Chicago. Recently, he won a Fulbright-Hays scholarship.
Semeuphoria Spin is the third public art project commissioned by the Public Art Committee as part of the Green Bay Trail Linear Sculpture Park.
