Property Taxes
The City’s 2022 tax levy for collection in 2023 is $16.3 million, excluding special service areas and tax increment financing. The levy rate decreased 34% from 1.045 for the 1993 levy to 0.691 for the current year. The City has made a significant effort to minimize growth in property taxes.

Properties in North Shore School District 112  
The City receives only 8% of the property taxes assessed on Highland Park property owners. The majority of the property taxes (72%) are remitted to schools, including elementary, high school, and college. A breakdown of the 2022 property tax levy, collected during calendar year 2023, follows:

Lake County Assessment List
The Moraine Township Assessor or the West Deerfield Township Assessor assesses Highland Park properties. Residents can access Lake County’s Assessment List or contact the Lake County Assessment Office at 847.377.2050 to determine which Township assesses their property.

West Deerfield Township Assessor
The West Deerfield Township Assessor is responsible for assessing the value of select properties in Highland Park. The City has no jurisdiction in this regard. Residents can contact the West Deerfield Township Assessor at 847.945.0614 should they have questions regarding the valuation of their property.

Moraine Township Assessor
The Moraine Township Assessor is responsible for assessing the value of select properties in Highland Park. The City has no jurisdiction in this regard. Residents can contact the Moraine Township Assessor at 847.432.2100 should they have questions regarding the valuation of their property.
