Highland Park's 4th of July Activities

The City of Highland Park is pleased to announce the schedule of events for the Fourth of July.  All Independence Day activities will be held on Sunday, July 4.  The theme of this year’s activities is “Salute to the Troops: Honoring the Women and Men of the United States Military.”

Children’s Bike & Pet Parade – 10:45 a.m.

Come see our young residents and their furry four-legged friends display their National pride while traversing along the designated parade route.  All Highland Park children are invited to participate!  Decorate your bike and pet and meet at the underground parking garbage on the corner of Laurel and St. Johns Avenues at 10:30 a.m.  The Children’s Bike & Pet Parade begins at 10:45 a.m.

Independence Day Parade – 11:00 a.m.

The Main Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the corner of Laurel and St. Johns Avenues.  The parade travels north on St. Johns Avenue, turns west on Central Avenue, and continues to Sunset Park. 

Fourth Fest – 12:00 p.m.

After the parade, the Park District will sponsor Fourth Fest at Sunset Park from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  For more information regarding Fourth Fest, visit www.pdhp.org or call (847) 579-3121.

Concert and Fireworks at Wolters Field – 6:30 p.m.

The Independence Day Concert will feature the grand finale of the LATE NITE HP RUMBLE Battle of the Bands Contest.  Watch these bands battle for a grand prize and chance to be named the 2010 LATE NITE HP RUMBLE Battle of the Bands Champion!

At approximately 9:15 p.m., the evening concludes with an aerial fireworks display, which is best viewed from Wolters Field, 1080 Park Avenue West.  Parking is available at Highland Park Hospital’s East Parking Lot (Midlothian and Park Avenue West), Wolters Field, and the Highland Park Country Club.  Handicapped parking is available on the east side of Wolters Field, adjacent to the High School Administration Building.
