Engineering
Technician
The City of Highland Park is seeking
an Engineering Technician for the Department of Public Works. This
position is
responsible for assisting in the development and planning of projects
for the City’s Capital Improvement Program. The work will
include coordinating and performing field inspections while managing
job sites during construction of subdivision and various municipal
improvements involving public sidewalks, street reconstruction
and paving, sewer, water and/or other public infrastructure. Minimum
requirements include: valid driver’s license and graduation
from high school or GED equivalent, supplemented with at least
two years of college in a construction engineering related discipline
or equivalent experience; an Associate degree in construction engineering
or a related field preferred.
The successful candidate will have excellent working skills in:
exercising good judgment, maintaining confidentiality, and making
responsible decisions in accordance with established policies and
procedures; prioritizing, organizing, and performing work independently;
operating a personal computer with the software and programs necessary
to perform the work of the department; planning and maintaining complex
office and record keeping sequences and systems; communicating effectively
orally and in writing; composing and preparing correspondence.
Salary Range: $50,952-$70,670 + excellent benefits.

Foreman – Water
Distribution
The City of Highland Park is seeking applications for the position
of Foreman in the Department of Public Works. The Foreman is a senior
member of the Water Distribution team, oversees a staff of seven
full-time and two part-time seasonal employees and plays an active
role in coordinating with the Water Production Division. The goal
of the Water Distribution team is to ensure integrity of the water
distribution system through inspections, construction, maintenance,
and repair of water mains, services, valves, meters, hydrants, meters
and appurtenances. Additionally, the Foreman is included in the rotation
to serve as a Duty Foreman.
The City of Highland Park is proud of its professional and skilled
staff. Therefore, candidates for the Foreman position must have a
high school diploma or equivalent and four years progressive experience
as a supervisor, foreman or construction manager administering personnel
and water maintenance projects. The position requires strong written
and verbal communication skills and experience with personal computers.
A valid State of Illinois Commercial Drivers License (CDL), Class
A or B, is also required.
Salary is dependent upon qualifications and experience.

intern to assist in the areas of comprehensive planning, housing,
historic preservation, zoning & subdivisions. Requires a Bachelor’s
