Each
year, Highland Park residents have the opportunity to support the
112 Education Foundation through the purchase of student-designed, “Drive
for Education” Highland Park vehicle stickers, which may
be purchased for an additional cost of $30. To make this UPGRADE,
residents simply check the appropriate box appearing on the City
vehicle sticker application. Donations are collected by the City
of Highland Park and forwarded to the Education Foundation.
The 112 Education Foundation’s mission is to enrich and enhance
educational opportunities for all children in North Shore School
District 112. The 112 Education Foundation, now celebrating its 13th
anniversary, is proud to have played a role in providing excellent
educational opportunities for all District 112 students. From the
beginning, it has been their goal to provide immediate funding of
the important “extras” that are the hallmark of an innovative
school system.
During their thirteen year history, the Foundation has raised over
a half a million dollars to benefit our students. Programming has:
-
Provided nearly 350 Opportunity Grants for District
112 teachers who propose innovative programs that enrich classroom
learning
-
Involved over 3,000 students in community service projects via Kids
in Community Service (KICS) grants
-
Enabled students to learn from professional musicians in
residency at district-wide schools through the Foundation’s
Ravinia Festival Partnership which is a district-wide music
education
enrichment program.
In addition, in partnership with Ravinia Festival Kids
Go Classic provides a free classical music concert to all district
students
and their families
-
Provided almost $75,000 for Summer School Student Scholarships
-
Funded professional Authors’ Visits to improve literacy
skills and inspire children to read
-
Helped the district implement its Technology Plan by providing grants
for multi-media stations for each of the elementary and middle
schools, enabling students to make iMovies and books on DVD, compose music,
process digital photography, and many other activities which
will help them express themselves more effectively.
Of course none of this would be possible without the support
of generous community and business donors who consistently
invest in District
112 students. It is through your commitment that
the
Foundation has been, and will continue to be successful.
There are more opportunities than ever for educational
enrichment, waiting to be turned into realities...
and that's where the
residents of Highland Park come in. Thank you for
supporting the 112 Education
Foundation.
