Pursuant to City
ordinance, every owner of a motor vehicle that is (a) registered
in the City of Highland Park and (b) stored or garaged at any time
within the boundaries of the City of Highland Park must
purchase and properly display a City of Highland Park vehicle sticker
by October 1st. All licenses purchased
after October 1, 2007, will be subject to a late penalty fee of
$10,
as indicated in the City's
Fee Schedule.
Pre-printed renewal application forms
are mailed to residents in August.
Please read and follow the instructions on the application
and review all preprinted information for accuracy. Make any
necessary
corrections directly on the form and return the entire application
with the appropriate fee. If you did not receive an application
by mail, simply click
here to request one. Checks should be
made payable to: City of Highland Park. PLEASE DO NOT
SEND CASH.
If
you prefer to pay for your vehicle sticker(s) in cash or by
using your VISA, MasterCard, or Discover, such transactions
must be completed in person at City Hall.
Simply Return Applications by Mail
The City strongly encourages you to avoid waiting in line by mailing
applications to the address indicated on the enclosed return
envelope. Completed applications returned via U.S. Mail will
be sent to an automated banking facility, where renewals will
be immediately processed. This change should reduce the time
that it takes to both process applications and deposit revenues.
To ensure that your vehicle sticker is returned to you prior
to the October 1st deadline, please allow sufficient time for
processing and return mail. Residents may purchase vehicle stickers
at City Hall between 7:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
How to Display Your Sticker
Highland Park vehicle stickers must be placed on the inner lower
left-hand side (driver side) of the front windshield. Water is
not necessary, and tape must not be used to attach the sticker
to the windshield. Proof of purchase is required by the City
to receive a transfer (new vehicle) or replacement sticker.
For More Information
Revenues generated from vehicle stickers assist the City in funding
necessary street maintenance projects and repairs. Any additional
inquiries can be directed to City Hall at (847) 432-0800. |
