Achievement Award Nominations Sought

HIGHLAND PARK, IL- Nominations are being accepted
for the Highland Park's Environmental Achievement Award. The Award
is intended to recognize an individual who has made an exceptional
or outstanding contribution to the City's environment. Nominations
for this award must clearly describe achievements in one or more
of the following areas:

Outstanding leadership, skills, abilities, or resourcefulness
in a) implementing innovative approaches that result in significant
improvements to the Highland Park environment; or b) organizing,
planning, or facilitating activities that promote environmental
protection, pollution prevention or reduction, environmental
enhancement, or the public awareness of environmental problems
in the City.

Demonstrated personal diligence or initiative by accepting
responsibility for special projects that resulted in significant
studies of or improvements to the quality of Highland Park's environment.

Technical expertise and competence in dealing with and resolving
an environmental problem in the City.

Unusual courage or competence in responding to an environmental
emergency in the City.

Demonstrated excellence in environmental education within
the City.
Nominations must be submitted by a person who lives or works in
Highland Park. Nominations by a Highland Park based group will
also be accepted. Current members of the Highland Park Environmental
Commission are ineligible for the award. The deadline for nominations
is May 13, 2005.
